Sadie (Moore) wants to get married in her family church to Ben (Krasinski). She finds that St. Augustine's has only one wedding slot available over the next two years, apart from one in a few weeks time. Reverend Frank (Williams), will not wed the couple until they agree to attend his prenuptial course which means some unusual classes and a series of homework. Frank's assistant bugs the couples house and tensions begin to rise as even robot babies come into the equation. Frank realises that he may be destroying love, rather than developing it.
A comedy which has Robin Williams getting back towards his comedic best. Obviously in romantic comedies there is a path to follow and therefore few surprises, but director Kwapis keeps it rolling along as Williams throws in more and more obstacles, and manages to deliver without dropping into cliche. The robot baby was unexpected and at the end of the day Frank does have good intentions, he just realises that you can slip into an abuse of power so easily. His young assistant is quite creepy, and some of the situations are quite bizarre such as the simulated argument sessions and the blindfold driving test (enough to get him arrested?), but we all know how it is going to end.
