Kia will unveil an imposing new premium SUV called Sorento at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday 5 March 2002. The car will extend Kia’s UK line-up to eight models. Kia expects Sorento to make the same dramatic impact in the SUV market that Sedona has in the large MPV market.

Sorento, which is set to become Kia’s top-of-the-range prestige product, shares similar dimensions to cars such as the Lexus RX300 and BMW X5. Sorento is Kia’s first all-new 4x4 since the 2.0-litre Sportage was launched in 1995. Kia Sorento will be offered with a 2.5-litre Common Rail Turbodiesel and a choice of a 4 cylinder 2.4-litre or 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines.

Kia Sorento will go on sale in Europe before the end of this year.
